Dr Bonsall is a Consultant Dermatologist based in Aberdeen, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions, skin lesions and skin cancer.
She graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2008 with a medical degree and a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science. After completing her junior doctor training across Edinburgh, Fife and Aberdeen, she achieved Membership of the Royal College of Physicians. Dr Bonsall began her dermatology training in Aberdeen in 2012. She passed the Dermatology Specialty Certificate Examination in 2015 and was added to the GMC Specialist Register in 2017, when she took up her NHS Consultant post in Aberdeen. In 2019 she passed a Postgraduate Certificate in Aesthetic Medicine from Queen Mary University of London with distinction and also published a book, Skin Care for Cold Weather, with Cambridge Scholars Publishing.

She is an active member of the local skin cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) and performs minor procedures, including the removal of small skin lesions under local anaesthetic. Dr Bonsall also led a pilot for an asynchronous digital dermatology platform in 2020. She continues to support the development of teledermatology services, helping improve patient access to dermatology care.
Dr Bonsall is passionate about education and regularly teaches junior doctors and medical students. She is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen.
In 2021, she became Careers Lead for the MBChB degree programme. She also contributes to postgraduate medical education and is involved in setting exam questions for the Royal College of Physicians and supporting guideline reenawal with the British Association of Dermatologists.
Her academic work includes publications in national and international journals, alongside ongoing local research and audit. She also attends courses and conferences to stay up to date with management of skin disease.
