About Dr Alexandra Banner

Personal Profile

Dr Alexandra Banner is a Consultant Dermatologist working at Bath Clinic and the Royal United Hospital (RUH) in Bath where she is Clinical Governance Lead. She has successfully helped restart and run the Patch Test Allergy Service at the RUH.

Dr Banner completed her medical degree at the University of Birmingham in 2011. She carried out her General Medical Training in University Hospitals Birmingham before doing a year as a Medical Teaching Fellow. During this time, she completed a diploma in Dermatology from the University of Hertfordshire gaining a Distinction. She continues her interest in teaching where she regularly delivers postgraduate teaching and training.

Dr Banner successfully completed her Specialist Training in Dermatology in the South West of England. She is a friendly, approachable clinician who is dedicated to keeping her knowledge and skill set up to date.

Dr Banner has a specialist interest in photodermatoses (skin conditions related to the sun), allergy, psoriasis, eczema and skin cancer. She offers skin surgery for benign and malignant skin lesions and intralesional steroid injections for some hair conditions and scars. She also offers thorough review and monitoring of moles and other precancerous/cancerous lesions.

Please note- for any patient that has a Lipoma greater than 2cm, this will require surgical input rather than a Dermatologist. Please refer to an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for the neck and head, or a General/Plastic Surgeon for all other body areas.
