Mr Alex Kocheta

Mr Alex Kocheta qualified in medicine from King’s College, London in 1993. Mr Kocheta gained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1997 and his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 2003. He completed a University of Cardiff Masters degree in Orthopaedic Engineering in 2003, achieving a distinction.

Mr Kocheta undertook Specialist Registrar training in Orthopaedic surgery at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry and its associated hospitals. As a senior trainee he completed specialist fellowships in hand and wrist surgery: firstly, at the renowned “Pulvertaft Hand Centre” in Derby and subsequently at Wrightington Orthopaedic Hospital. He was appointed as a substantive Consultant Orthopaedic and Hand Surgeon in 2005 at The Rotherham Foundation NHS Trust. Since his appointment his key aim has been to work with colleagues to further improve and widen the scope of upper limb surgery as well as improve outcomes and patient experience. In addition: 

• He is an examiner for the University of Sheffield Medical School
• He is an examiner for the FRCS (Tr. & Orth.) examination, the highest level of professional qualification awarded in surgery in the UK 
• He regularly teach on several postgraduate courses nationally in relation to hand and wrist surgery 
• He has active research interests with the aim to further improve treatments, pain relief and outcomes for people with hand and wrist conditions

Mr Kocheta is an examiner for the University of Sheffield Medical School and have been appointed as an examiner for the FRCS (Tr. & Orth.) examination, the highest level of professional qualification awarded in surgery in the UK

He regularly teaches on several postgraduate courses nationally in relation to hand and wrist surgery. His research interests with the aim to further improve treatments, pain relief and outcomes for people with hand and wrist conditions and injuries

Mr Kocheta's prime aim is to provide his patients with a timely, personally tailored service underpinned by the latest evidence-based medicine. To achieve this he practices a holistic, multidisciplinary approach utilising a number of advanced and innovative treatment techniques. Mr Kocheta believes that: “In the race for excellence, there is no finishing line.”
