He is also a member of Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team at Harrogate, where he has a weekly NHS operating list removing and reconstructing head and neck skin cancers. His General Clinics run three times a week there. His NHS practice in York centres on Orthognathic Surgery, which is surgical correction of facial and growth anomalies of the jaws such as severe over- and under-bites, in conjunction with brace treatment of the teeth by his Consultant Orthodontist colleagues. He has also treated facial trauma and severe head and neck infections as part of his on-call work. He was the York Maxillofacial Department’s Clinical Governance (Quality Assurance and Improvement) Lead from 2022 to 2025.

Mr Adams is deeply engaged in medical education and clinical mentorship. He is involved in training Resident doctors in the region and has acted as an Educational Supervisor to Foundation Doctors, Core Trainees and Registrars. He has run courses on the principles of Cutaneous Surgery of the Head and Neck for both Surgical trainees as well as GPs who perform minor surgery, and on Orthognathic Surgery for the region’s surgical registrars training to be Consultants. He has also been involved in the selection of candidates for, and the teaching of medical students at, Hull York Medical School. Between 2016 and 2022 he was an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor. He has presented at both National and International level and has published in the Scientific Literature.

Mr Adams places great importance on the relationship he builds with each patient, and this is borne out in consistently high praise from both patients and colleagues for his compassionate, approachable manner. This has been reflected in his very high scores in the various domains of patient and colleague feedback, undertaken as part of his revalidation with the General Medical Council. It has been clear to his appraisers from these and the free text comments provided, that he is, "a well-respected…clinician who is held in high regard by patients and colleagues."

Mr Adams lives near Harrogate with his family and in his spare time enjoys cycling and running at a competitive level. He has competed for Great Britain at Masters Level at Triathlon, Duathlon and Cycling.
