Dr Salama completed his medical degree and subsequent specialist training in Anaesthesia, acquiring extensive experience in perioperative care, regional anaesthesia, and pain management. He pursued advanced training in Chronic Pain Medicine, refining his expertise in both pharmacological and interventional therapies to address acute and persistent pain conditions.
Throughout his training, he gained exposure to multimodal pain management strategies, including image-guided interventional techniques, neuromodulation, and multidisciplinary rehabilitation approaches. His commitment to continuous professional development is reflected in his participation in national and international conferences, workshops, and fellowships in pain medicine and anaesthesia.

Within his NHS role, Dr Salama has a structured job plan dedicated to pain management, with 70% of his time focused on chronic pain services. His NHS commitments include seeing and treating 900 – 1200 patients every year.
His contributions to medical education are significant, with active involvement in teaching and training junior doctors, pain fellows, and anaesthetic trainees. He regularly delivers lectures, courses, supervises hands-on procedural training, and participates in multidisciplinary teaching sessions to enhance the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals managing pain conditions.
