He is now associate Professor in Ear nose and throat. He has carried out over 4,000 ENT surgeries to date, including 1,000 ear surgeries such as cholesteatoma removal, tympanoplasty (repair of perforated eardrums), ossiculoplasty (fixing hearing bones) and implants. He has also performed sinus surgery and skull base surgery on over 1,500 patients during the past 15 years.
Prof. Allam has extensive experience in ENT, having undertaken his undergraduate and postgraduate training in prestigious major teaching hospitals including Imperial College London, Manchester University Hospitals, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Cambridge University Hospitals, acquiring significant expertise in the field.
Prof. Allam has completed a Masters degree in endoscopic endonasal approaches to skull base, and a PhD in cochlear implantation during his higher surgical training. He has also been awarded two prestigious Fellowships - one in Sheffield training in otology and ear surgery with vast experience in management of balance disorders and hearing implants, and another in Cambridge training in skull base surgery, otology, hearing implantation surgery, ménière's disease, endoscopic sinus surgery and pituitary surgery.
Prof. Allam is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and is a member of the European Board of Otolaryngology.
