Mr Malik graduated from Glasgow University and undertook his basic surgical training on the West of Scotland surgical rotation, followed by the University College London Hospitals higher surgical rotation. Mr Malik also undertook several years of training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. At the end of his training he went on to sub-specialise in foot and ankle surgery undertaking a fellowship in Sydney at the Royal North Shore Hospital and with the Surrey Foot and Ankle group based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and Frimley Park Hospital.
In 2011 Mr Malik was awarded the British Orthopaedic Association Travelling Fellowship to Utah to work alongside Professor Saltzman. Mr Malik previously developed the foot and ankle service at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, introducing modern diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitation methods.
Mr Malik's elective NHS and private practices encompass all aspect of Foot and Ankle surgery. Operations performed include: Arthroscopic surgery, keyhole surgery, bunion correction, forefoot surgery, midfoot and hindfoot arthritis surgery, total ankle replacement, foot and ankle fracture fixation, flat foot correction, deformity correction, Achilles tendon repair, ankle ligament surgery.
Mr Malik has a large revision practice and often sees patients for a second opinion. Mr Malik has a large sports injury practice managing the full spectrum of foot and ankle injuries sustained through sports and recreational activities. Mr Malik was a sports medicine doctor with the medical team at the London 2012 Olympics, having undergone and passed a rigorous selection process.
Mr Malik has completed extensive research in orthopaedics and trauma, and had several research projects published and presented at national and international meetings. He is heavily involved in charitable work with his main interest being in humanitarian relief work in the developing world. He is the orthopaedic lead for a medical disaster response team and was involved in the medical operations at Banda Aceh in 2004 and during the Kashmir earthquake in 2005.
Mr Malik’s philosophy is to treat all patients as if they were family. He sees his main role being to diagnose the problem, inform and educate the patient and together with them plan treatment going forward. Whenever possible Mr Malik likes to exhaust all forms of non operative management, but where necessary and appropriate will offer surgery.
