About Mr Adel Makar

Personal Profile

Mr Makar completed his Higher Surgical Training in Urology on the South East Thames rotation, including a Clinical Lectureship at King’s College Hospital (GKT Medical School), followed by a Uro-oncology Fellowship at The Christie Cancer Centre, one of the UK’s leading cancer centres. He has worked as a Consultant Urological Surgeon since 2002 and has held several senior leadership roles, including Chair of the Urology Expert Advisory Group (EAG) for the West Midlands Cancer Alliance (2022–2024) and Deputy Chair (2019–2022). He previously served as Lead Cancer Clinician for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (2008–2019) and Associate Medical Director (2013–2019), and has been the Urological Cancer Lead for Worcestershire since 2002. In addition to his clinical leadership, he contributes to national education and training as faculty for the Royal College of Surgeons of England Reconstructive and Operative Urology courses, and as an invited lecturer at the London Institute of Urology and Nephrology. He is also actively involved in research and quality improvement as a peer reviewer for the National Cancer Patient Registry Programme and several urological journals, and currently serves as President of the Worcestershire Prostate Cancer Support Group.
