Personal Profile

Mr Adeel Bajwa is a General and Colorectal Surgeon specialising in all aspects of general and colorectal surgery including inguinal hernias, bowel cancer, bowel surgery, haemorrhoids, functional bowel disorders, colonoscopy, and pelvic floor disorders. He is a leading robotic colorectal surgeon with 8 years of experience and has been lead surgeon in over 250 major robotic surgeries. He is actively involved in training experienced consultant surgeons both in the UK and across Europe. He has presented at national meetings and published scientific papers on robotic surgery. He regularly teaches robotic surgery training courses. He passionately believes all patients should have access to robotic surgery. He has a particular interest in rectal and anal cancer robotic surgery and receives referrals from across the region.

Mr Bajwa qualified with distinction from the University of London in 2003. He was awarded a doctorate in medicine for research in pelvic floor disorders at the nationally recognised pelvic floor unit at University College London in 2011. He completed his training with a fellowship at the world renowned Royal Marsden Hospital in London. During his training he was awarded fellowships from both the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland aswell as the Royal Society of Medicine.

He was added on the specialist register for General and Colorectal Surgery in 2016. He was appointed consultant general emergency and colorectal surgeon at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire in 2017. He developed the robotic service at UHCW and whilst serving as cancer lead transformed the unit into one of the leading cancer units in the Midlands. His contribution to the NHS and surgical expertise was recognised when he was awarded the prestigious NHS National Clinic Impact Award in 2024.

In his private practice he provides a complete service for hernia operations, all bowel disorders and colorectal conditions including haemorrhoids with a specialist interest in colorectal and anal cancer.
