Mr Guha graduated from the University of Calcutta, India. He completed a Masters Degree in Orthopaedics in India before coming to the UK. In the UK he trained in hospitals in Southend and Manchester before starting his orthopaedic surgery rotation in Wales.

He has completed two prestigious fellowships in the UK studying foot and ankle surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and the Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals, Bristol. He specialised in open surgery for complex foot and ankle problems at Stanmore and developed advanced arthroscopic surgery skills of the foot and ankle while working in Bristol.

Mr Guha provides a specialist service for foot and ankle conditions including ankle sprains, bunions, claw toes, ankle and hindfoot arthritis, rheumatoid foot deformity, cartilage injuries, tendon injuries, Morton’s neuroma and complex hindfoot deformity. He works closely with the physiotherapy department, podiatrists and orthotists to provide a personalised, comprehensive, holistic service of care for a broad spectrum of foot and ankle disorders. At the Droitwich Foot and Ankle Clinic he uses time-tested techniques for bunion surgery (Hallux Valgus) such as the Scarf osteotomy. The scarf osteotomy has one of the highest success rates, allows immediate weight bearing and minimises postoperative pain. He treats big toe arthritis (Hallux rigidus) using big toe fusion and cheilectomy (removal of arthritic bone).

Mr Guha treats sporting injuries of the foot and ankle and regularly uses ankle arthroscopy, ankle ligament reconstruction and Achilles tendon operations for the management of these conditions. Arthroscopic surgery ensures quicker rehabilitation and earlier return to work or play after surgery.

Ankle fusions and ankle replacements are both performed by Mr Guha. Ankle fusions are generally performed using arthroscopic techniques. This allows early weight bearing post operatively, significantly reduces pain and achieves the highest union rates of any technique.

Mr Guha is passionate about learning and teaching and is involved in research, audit and teaching including undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He is also a reviewer for the British Medical Journal and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on foot and ankle surgery and other streams of orthopaedics.

Mr Guha is married to a Consultant Microbiologist and has a young family. Away from work he enjoys swimming, playing badminton, travelling and spending time with his family.
