Personal Profile

Mr Abhijit Guha is a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon. He works at The Alexandra Hospital and The Priory Hospital, and also provides a private specialist foot and ankle service at Droitwich Spa Hospital.

Mr Guha graduated from the University of Calcutta in India, where he also completed a Master’s degree in Orthopaedics.

He moved to the UK and trained in Southend and Manchester before completing his orthopaedic training rotation in Wales.

He then undertook two specialist fellowships in foot and ankle surgery:

  • Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital
  • Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals, Bristol

During this time, he developed advanced expertise in both open surgery for complex deformities and arthroscopic (keyhole) techniques for foot and ankle conditions.

Mr Guha treats a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, including:

  • Ankle sprains and ligament injuries
  • Bunions (hallux valgus)
  • Claw toes
  • Arthritis of the ankle and hindfoot
  • Rheumatoid foot deformities
  • Cartilage and tendon injuries
  • Morton’s neuroma
  • Complex hindfoot deformities

He also manages both adult and adolescent foot and ankle conditions.

At the Droitwich Foot and Ankle Clinic, Mr Guha uses a range of established surgical techniques, including:

  • Scarf osteotomy for bunion correction (hallux valgus)
  • Big toe fusion and cheilectomy for hallux rigidus (arthritis)
  • Ankle arthroscopy for sports injuries
  • Ankle ligament reconstruction
  • Achilles tendon surgery
  • Ankle fusion (often performed using keyhole techniques)
  • Ankle replacement surgery

Where appropriate, he uses minimally invasive techniques to reduce pain and support quicker recovery and return to activity.

Mr Guha works closely with physiotherapists, podiatrists, and orthotists to provide a coordinated and personalised treatment approach. His goal is to ensure patients receive comprehensive care tailored to their condition and lifestyle needs.

Mr Guha is actively involved in teaching, research, and clinical audit. He contributes to both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.

He is also a reviewer for the British Medical Journal and has published widely in peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals.

Outside of work, Mr Guha enjoys swimming, badminton, travelling, and spending time with his family.
