Most of her speciality training was undertaken at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Eye Hospital in Edinburgh with a year or so in between on the Leeds rotation. Ms Gupta completed her sub-speciality training in Edinburgh and was also a consultant at Princess Alexandra Eye Hospital in Edinburgh for 3 and a half years before returning to her roots and coming back to Manchester as a consultant in June 2018.
Ms Gupta is a senior examiner for post graduate ophthalmology exams and leads the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Duke Elder exam, she chairs this subcommittee and sets the paper (this is a prestigious exam for undergraduate medical students keen to pursue a career in Ophthalmology). She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators.
Among her other accolades, Ms Gupta is a module lead for MSc Primary care Ophthalmology at the University of Edinburgh and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer. She is also co-lead for a module for the Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science MSc University of Manchester.
Special interests and procedures performed include:
General ophthalmology, cataract surgery, retinal disease including AMD, diabetic eye disease, vein occlusions, emergency eye problems, laser capsulotomy, dry eyes, chalazion removal and eyelid cyst removal.
