Dealing with Cerebral palsy (CP)
Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of permanent movement disorders that appear in early childhood. Cerebral palsy is typically caused by brain damage that occurs before, during, or shortly after birth. It's caused by abnormal development or damage to the parts of the brain that control movement, balance, and posture. Factors that can lead to brain damage include:- Infections during pregnancy
- Lack of oxygen to the brain during birth (asphyxia)
- Premature birth
- Traumatic head injury
- Muscle stiffness or rigidity
- Involuntary movements
- Difficulty with coordination and balance
- Delayed milestones (such as sitting, crawling, or walking)
- Problems with speech and language development
- Intellectual disabilities
- Seizures
