What’s Changing
We are entering a new era at Werndale Hospital and are embarking on an exciting redevelopment project at the hospital. These upgrades are key to expanding our services, reducing wait times, and creating a more welcoming and up-to-date space for everyone we care for. The new extension will include extra consulting and outpatient treatment rooms, additional theatre space, and eight new en-suite patient bedrooms. We are also upgrading our facilities and introducing enhanced technology to make sure you continue to experience quality care in a modern, welcoming environment.
Staying Open and Operational
While building work is underway, the hospital will remain fully open. All appointments, clinics, and surgeries will continue as planned. Our staff will be on hand to support you, and we are working hard behind the scenes to keep any disruption to a minimum.
Access and Parking Changes
There will be some temporary changes to how you access the hospital. To help keep things running smoothly around the building works, the car park will be manned by an attendant to support traffic flow and ensure patients can park safely. Where possible, we encourage you to consider being dropped off for your appointment, and to arrive just in time.
New Entrance: During the building works, you will enter the hospital through a temporary entrance located near the front of the hospital, close to the car park entrance. Our car park attendant will be on hand to guide you.
Reception: Once inside, you’ll be welcomed by our friendly reception team, who are ready to help with any questions.
Coming for Surgery
If you are arriving for surgery, please note that you will now enter through our temporary entrance. Once you have been checked in at reception, a member of our team will accompany you to the ward, ensuring you feel supported from the moment you arrive.
Visitors are welcome after surgery. Visiting ends at 6pm, but if you need more flexibility, we can check with the ward team. They will do their best to help.
Noise and Disruption
While we are doing everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum, some noise is unavoidable during building works. We understand that noise can be unsettling, especially in a healthcare environment, and we want to reassure you that our staff are here to support you throughout. We will do our best to ensure a calm and comfortable environment for patients and visitors throughout the works.
Construction will mostly take place during normal working hours (typically Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm), and we are working closely with our contractors to reduce the impact wherever possible.
Accessibility Support
We are committed to making sure all patients can access the hospital safely and comfortably during this period. If you have any specific access needs - such as mobility assistance or help navigating the new entrance - please speak to a member of staff when you arrive or contact us ahead of your visit. Our team is here to help.
Thank You
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding while this important work takes place. These changes are a vital part of our plans to improve our hospital and provide even better, faster access to care for our patients - now and in the future.
