Care quality commission inspection

The Priory Hospital's most recent CQC inspection was in May and July 2019 and the report was published on 15th January 2020.

Tony Avery, Executive Director at The Priory Hospital has given the following response:

Following our inspection by the Care Quality Commission in May and July 2019, we were extremely disappointed to see that the report concluded an overall Requires Improvement rating.

The Priory Hospital's report concluded that staff treated patients with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, took account of their individual needs, and helped them understand their conditions. They provided emotional support to patients, families and carers. This practice lies at the very heart of everything we strive to deliver and we are proud that the CQC inspection team recognised this practice. In addition, the inspectors stated that staff understood our values and that they were focused on the needs of patients receiving care. There are further examples of good practice within the report.

We received a "good" overall rating for caring and responsive services and we were particularly proud that our Critical Care facility also received a "good" rating, acknowledging that this service is safe, effective, responsive and well led.

We take the CQC's advice regarding improvement to our services incredibly seriously, renovation work has already started in theatres and we have also increased resource within our training department to improve our mandatory training scores across all departments.

We look forward to continuing to work with the CQC on improving our hospital's services and facilitating completion of their actions and recommendations.
