Caring for someone can often be a full-time role, and like with any job, can sometimes require a short break. Respite care provides the help and support to enable a family member or carer a break-away from the responsibility of looking after a loved one over your holiday period.
At The Cavell Hospital, we understand coming into hospital can often be an emotional and stressful time for many. Our priority is to ensure all of our patients receive the best possible clinical care, giving you the peace of mind that your loved ones are in a safe and caring environment.
Arranging admission for respite care
Admissions for respite care are self-referred, however, pre-assessment prior to admission will be required.
Minimum stay is 1 week.

Patients becoming ill during their stay
If the length of stay extends beyond the planned respite care period due to illness, you will be advised on the necessary arrangements that will need to be made, and any additional costs before treatment commences.
Patients are encouraged to bring their own medication, otherwise they will have to be seen by a physician who will provide a private prescription (additional charges will apply).
Payment for respite care at The Cavell Hospital will not be funded by your insurance company, and therefore is only available as a self-pay option.
Price per 7 nights - £1,500.
To secure your booking, payment needs to be made in full no later than 1 week prior to admission.
During their stay the patients will benefit from:
- Individual room with an en-suite bathroom
- Specialist catering needs
- 24-hour on-site care
- Service of Consultant physicians.
Additional services such as advanced nursing care, physiotherapy, IV therapy and more can be tailored to the needs of the individual (additional charges will apply).
It is also possible to book meals with your loved one, in the privacy of their room, for additional cost.
Terms & Conditions
- Patients may bring in small items from home such as photo frames, however the hospital cannot be held responsible for any valuables kept in the room.
- The hospital does not have an extended emergency care unit.
- The hospital does not have the facility to accommodate patients with dementia.
