On your arrival, one of our friendly reception team will greet you and check your details. Your consultant will then meet you in the waiting area and escort you into the clinic room for your appointment.
The ultimate goal of this consultation is to identify any need for concern, provide you with clarity, and, if necessary, take steps to ensure you receive the best treatment in a timely manner to make a swift, full recovery.
During your initial consultation, your consultant will assess your medical history and take a full account of your symptoms and condition. They will then conduct a routine examination of your head, neck and mouth to get a clear picture of the situation and understand what the next steps should be.
Depending on your condition, you may be offered a further scan or test. Thanks to the comprehensive range of diagnostics facilities available at Ross Hall Clinic Braehead, we can conduct a range of further tests within the hospital, under one roof.
To put you at ease, our specialists will always keep you informed and explain the details of the tests being carried out.
Routine tests or scans that your consultant may suggest:
- MRI scan - To look more closely at soft tissue problems, such as a lump or bump in your head, neck or mouth, or possible TMJ conditions (jaw pain).
- CT scan - This can help by producing detailed images of your internal structures to look at more complex issues such as jaw cysts and growth abnormalities.
- X-ray - To check common, straightforward dental conditions like impacted teeth.
- Biopsy - Taking sample tissue to look more closely at concerning lumps or bumps in the head, neck or mouth.
Keep in mind that these further tests are prescribed on a patient-to-patient basis and may not necessarily be required. Similarly, there are a variety of possible tests not listed that may be required in some circumstances, which your consultant will explain in full beforehand.
The staff and consultants at Ross Hall Clinic Braehead are dedicated to providing you with a fast and accurate diagnosis following any scans or tests. We aim to cut down on the stress and anxiety that waiting in limbo brings and work hard to offer prompt appointment times for all diagnostics. Some tests, such as X-Rays, can even be carried out on the same day as your initial consultation.
Once these tests have been completed, you will have a follow-up appointment to discuss the results with your consultant and the best way forward should treatment be required.
If surgery is needed, you will be able to agree with your consultant on a suitable date and time for your procedure. Moreover, most procedures carried out for this speciality are done as a day case, which means you can go home the same day as their treatment.
Whether the next step is further testing, surgery, physiotherapy or referral to another specialist within the hospital, we’ll provide clarity and answer any questions you might have.
