The Beaumont Hospital offers a wide variety of orthopaedic procedures. These are listed below.
Shoulder surgery
Rotator cuff surgery, or rotator cuff repair, and shoulder replacement are two of the most common forms of shoulder surgery offered at The Beaumont.
Rotator cuff surgery preserves and repairs the injured muscles and tendons that surround your shoulder. You may need this procedure if you've had an injury or if your rotator cuff is damaged from age-related degeneration.
The Beaumont also offers shoulder replacement surgery, which replaces your shoulder joint with a prosthesis. This may be a useful option if your joint has been damaged by arthritis or a severe fracture, for example. The hospital offers total shoulder replacement and reverse total shoulder replacement - where the positions of the ball and socket in the shoulder joint are reversed.
The vast majority of hip surgeries at The Beaumont are total hip replacements.
Hip replacements are some of the most successful surgeries in medicine. They are used to treat severe arthritis or damage to your hip caused by fractures, lack of blood supply, or other conditions from birth.
Spinal surgery
Consultants at The Beaumont Hospital offer several spinal surgeries for people with chronic back pain that is not alleviated by other measures. These include spinal fusion surgery, lumbar decompression surgery, and lumbar laminectomy.
Knee replacement
Partial or total knee replacements are available. The procedures can resurface your knee joint if it has been damaged by various forms of arthritis, improving the mobility and function of your knee and reducing pain.
Knee arthroscopy
Knee arthroscopy, or keyhole surgery, is a minimally invasive procedure used for diagnosing and treating problems with your knee. These include ligament tears and meniscus injuries, or damaged cartilage.
Knee arthroscopy can be used in ligament reconstruction, such as ACL and PCL reconstruction, or cartilage regeneration.
Knee realignment surgery
Also called knee osteotomy, this procedure is an excellent alternative to knee replacements, especially in the younger population. It involves cutting the tibial bone to realign the leg so that the pressure is taken off the affected knee area, reducing the pain.
