Albyn Hospital offers private treatment and services to those living in the North of Scotland.

Albyn Hospital is part of Circle Health Group, a leading provider of healthcare services throughout the UK. Located in the west end of Aberdeen, Albyn Hospital is the only independent hospital serving Aberdeen/shire and the North of Scotland.

Our facilities combined with the latest onsite imaging and diagnostic technology enables our consultants to undertake a wide range of procedures ranging from routine investigations to complex surgery. Some of the main private treatments offered at Albyn Hospital include Orthopaedic Surgery, Eye Surgery, One Stop Breast Clinic Service, Gynaecology, General Surgery and Gastroenterology.

This specialist expertise is supported by an experienced multi-disciplinary team of professionals, with dedicated private nursing teams providing care within a friendly and comfortable environment. 

Patients can access our services through private medical insurance or by self-paying. Those with private medical insurance should check their policy details with their provider prior to attending any appointments. Patients can also self-refer for the majority of our services and book an appointment online with a Consultant of their choice.

We accept referrals from GPs, Optometrists, Physiotherapists and other Registered Consultants.

  • Physiotherapy services with 6 private treatment rooms, gym area and a Pilates room.
  • Health Services which include private GP consultations, health assessments, private medicals including OGUK, travel clinic and woman's health
  • Psychiatry and clinical psychology
  • Additional support services available on site include a laboratory, pharmacy and audiology service

Please note that the reception, several consultation rooms and the treatment room in the out patient department of 24 Albyn Place can only be accessed via a set of stairs by the front door. There is no lift access available in this building. Please inform a member of staff should you require assistance.

For patients with appointments in the Physiotherapy department of 21 Albyn Place, a lift is available to gain access to all floors.

Albyn Hospital is currently undergoing a programme of refurbishment. 

By Summer 2024, the hospital will gain an additional operating theatre, 3 more patient en-suite bedrooms, an additional 7 patient day case rooms all to the to the rear of the hospital, and an improved pedestrian entrance from the front parking area to the main hospital entrance.

We are aware of the impact the construction work may have on our patients and are working to minimise the noise and disruption throughout this period, however, this might not always be possible during your visit.

Thetheatre department has been independently recognised for its outstanding best practice and safety in operating theatres. Awarded by the Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP), the body is committed to improving patient care in perioperative practice by recognising, celebrating and sharing guidance.

How to get to us and find the hospital

Travelling from any direction head for City Centre (Union Street). Travel to the west end of Union Street and continue up Albyn Place. The hospital is located on the left-hand side of Albyn Place.

Aberdeen is easily accessed by road from the North (A96), West (A93) and South (A90).

Trains run from Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh and England (inc. sleepers).

Domestic: regular flights from all major UK airports including direct flights from Orkney, Shetland and Wick. 

International: direct flights from Norway, Holland and France. Sea - Ferries to Aberdeen from Orkney and Shetland.
