Personal Profile

Mr Collin graduated from the Royal Free University Hospital, London in 1995. After obtaining his membership in General Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1999, he commenced his training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. His training took place in the UK (Exeter, Norwich and Newcastle), New Zealand (Wellington) and Australia (Adelaide).

Mr Collin completed his training in 2010 after his specialist Fellowship in Breast and General Reconstructive Surgery in Adelaide, Australia.

He has been a Consultant at the University Hospital of North Durham since April 2010 and regularly attends the Darlington Memorial Hospital for clinics. He is developing the breast reconstruction service for the Durham region and is a core member of the skin cancer team.

Mr Collin is interested in many aspects of Plastic and Aesthetic surgery in addition to his work in breast reconstruction.

Over the past twelve years of working in plastic and reconstructive surgery, Mr Collin has gained extensive and broad experience in all aspects of the specialty. He has updated his practical surgical skills and knowledge by reflective practice and self-directed learning, as well as attending internal and external teaching sessions, courses and meetings. He attained the FRCS (plast) qualification in October 2007 and has further developed his sub-specialty interest in Breast and Microvascular Reconstruction during his overseas fellowship and as a Consultant in Durham.
He is registered on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery.

Mr Collin is comfortable dealing with the following conditions/scenarios:

• Breast Reconstruction – immediate and delayed, microvascular and pedicled flap techniques as indicated.
• Breast Surgery – asymmetry correction, augmentation and reduction techniques.
• Body Contouring – abdominoplasty, Body lifting, Thigh reduction, brachioplasty and liposuction/lipomodelling/fat injection techniques.
• Hand Surgery – common elective conditions.
• Skin Malignancy – including nodal dissections and sarcoma management.
• Wound and Scar – management of complex wounds and scars using a broad range of techniques and dressings.
