Personal Profile

After undergraduate training in Edinburgh, I completed Orthopaedic training in Birmingham. This was followed by specialist fellowship training in Limb Reconstruction Surgery in Bristol and Foot and Ankle Surgery in Sheffield as well as an AO Trauma fellowship in Tampa, Florida.

Since 2015 I have worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital which serves as the Major Trauma Centre for Birmingham and the surrounding region.

I specialise in foot and ankle surgery, limb reconstruction and complex lower limb trauma. A significant proportion of my practice involves the use of circular fixators (Ilizarov frames) for both acute and delayed trauma reconstruction (nonunion malunion and bone infection) as well as the management of post-traumatic and elective foot and ankle conditions, including sports injuries.

I am clinical lead for Orthopaedic Trauma at University Hospitals Birmingham and an Associate Editor of Trauma, a peer-reviewed journal.
