Personal Profile

Mr Mohammed Hamdan is a Consultant General Surgeon at Circle Reading Hospital.

He qualified in 2005 from The University of Jordan, Amman. Following this, Mr Hamdan came to the UK and underwent basic surgical training in Southampton followed by higher surgical training in the Bristol region. During this time, he became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2010 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2018.

After completing his surgical training he was awarded with a CCT in General Surgery with sub-specialty interest in Upper GI surgery. He subsequently underwent a post CCT fellowship in Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading between 2019 and 2021. During this period, he developed expertise in all forms of Bariatric surgery, minimally invasive gallbladder, hernia and anti-reflux surgery and upper GI endoscopy. Since then, he has been appointed as a substantive Consultant Emergency, UGI and Bariatric Surgeon at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading in October 2021.

Mr Hamdan is married and has one young boy. He enjoys playing football, regular exercise and home cooking.

  • Weight loss Surgery – gastric banding, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric balloon
  • Laparoscopic cholecystectomy and bile duct exploration
  • Laparoscopic anti-reflux and hiatal hernia surgery
  • Hernia surgery; laparoscopic and open surgery for groin, incisional and ventral hernias, including reconstruction
  • General surgery including skin and subcutaneous lesion excision
  • Upper GI endoscopy including dilatation, PEG and Bravo capsule insertion
