His period in research was funded by a British Heart Foundation fellowship and was undertaken at the Leeds Institute of Genetics and the Leeds British Heart foundation Cardiac MRI unit. His research was on the genetic basis of heart muscle thickening in patients with high BP.
He is British society of Echocardiography accredited in Transthoracic and Transoesophageal Echocardiography. He is Level III accredited in Cardiac CT by the Society of Cardiac CT. He is Level III accredited in Cardiac MR by the Society Cardiac MR and European society of Cardiology.
He was appointed as Consultant Cardiologist to Lewisham University Hospital and King’s College Hospital in 2008, and He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer (Research) at King’s College London (University).
He undertakes General Cardiology, All aspects of Echocardiography, including stress echocardiography, CT coronary angiography and Cardiac MRI, and he runs an inherited cardiac conditions clinic and a heart valve clinic at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Hospitals.
He continues to undertake clinical research and large scale audit. His current research interest is comparative work on the clinical and cost-effectiveness of cardiac CT and Stress echocardiography. He is a principal investigator for several large and important clinical trials, such as the ISCHAEMIA trial and Rapid CTCA trial.
To date, he has published over 60 peer review articles and 60 conference abstracts. He is the Lead for Audit and Research in Cardiology at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
