Personal Profile

Mr Jonathan Broome qualified from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 1989 and gained considerable experience in obstetrics, gynaecology including urogynaecology mainly in Manchester before joining the Royal Bolton Hospital in 2000 as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a subspecialty interest in Urogynaecology.   Mr Broome is able to cover all aspects of general gynaecology. In 1996 he developed a special interest in Urogynaecology whilst working at St Marys Hospital, Manchester and in 1998 undertook a two year Fellowship in Endogynaecology at the Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney, Australia. 

Mr Broome routinely sees over 500 new patients each year with urogynaecology problems. At consultation he is able to offer a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of urogynaecology problems and involves a multidisciplinary team, including specialist nurses and physiotherapists in the treatment plan for his patients.

Mr Broome is one of the few gynaecological surgeons offering specialist keyhole pelvic floor repair surgery allowing an early return a normal lifestyle and enabling younger women to preserve their fertility.

As a keen teacher he is currently the Undergraduate Tutor and is involved in the teaching and development of undergraduates, postgraduates, midwives and nursing staff.

Whilst simultaneously maintaining a busy hands-on consultant practice Mr Broome continues his clinical research into the field of Urogynaecology and has written over 30 publications and has delivered numerous specialist presentations on urogynaecology to consultant colleagues across the world.
