Mr Jark Bosma is a highly regarded expert Spinal Surgeon with experience in neurosurgery, spinal surgery and spinal injuries spanning more than 25 years. He is specialised in the assessment and treatment of degenerative spine disease. This mainly involves disc prolapse (herniation) and spinal stenosis of the cervical and lumbar spine. He can advise on, and offer surgical intervention, conservative treatment and spinal injections.

After obtaining his medical degree with Great Distinction at the University of Ghent (Belgium) he did his postgraduate training on the British Isles. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1995. In addition to his neurosurgical training at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Liverpool, he did Fellowships in Spinal Injuries and Spinal Orthopaedic Surgery at the world-renowned Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, as well as a Felllowship in Orthopaedic Spinal Surgery at the world famous Schulthess Klinik in Zürich. Doing so, he has gained a wealth of experience in spinal surgery, which includes complex instrumentation procedures for the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He was awarded the Neurosurgical Specialty Fellowship in 2001. As consultant in the subsequent years he has expanded his experience and pioneered new treatments such as cervical disc replacement and instrumented fixation for spondylolysis.

Mr Bosma has published and presented numerous papers at national and international conferences. He has also given presentations and been part of the faculty as an invited speaker. In addition to this -following on from his work as an anatomy demonstrator for four years during his studies- he has taught neurosurgery in general to students in Liverpool, Southampton and Sheffield. Furthermore, he has taught spinal surgical assessment and techniques to trainees in neurosurgery and orthopaedic spinal surgery internationally.
