Personal Profile

Mr Wokes is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic and Head and Heck surgeon, based in County Durham and the Darlington Foundation Trust. He graduated from medical school with distinction and has been working in the NHS since 2008. He strives to provide exemplary patient care and natural looking results for his patients.

A decade of plastic surgery training, both nationally and internationally culminated in the award of the prestigious Ian McGregor Gold Medal for outstanding performance in his FRCS(PLAST) consultant examination in 2018.

Following this, Mr Wokes completed the renowned, nationally appointed Training Interface Group Head and Neck Oncology Fellowship at the Manchester Royal Infirmary and the Christie Hospital, one of Europe’s leading cancer centres. Further time of fellowship spent in Belgium and Sweden, learning novel and innovative techniques has allowed Mr Wokes to adopt a contemporary approach to all aspects of reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.

In 2019, he successfully completed the highly coveted British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) Aesthetic Surgery fellowship, under the guidance of several of the country’s leading aesthetic surgeons in both Newcastle and London.

Complementary to his surgical expertise, Mr Wokes has extensive non-surgical aesthetic experience, allowing a highly sought after multi-faceted approach to rejuvenation. Aside from his medical qualifications, Mr Wokes has a Batchelor of Science Degree in Psychology & Biology and a post-graduate certificate in Clinical Leadership. This enables him to provide bespoke, patient-centred consultation to those pursuing aesthetic procedures.

He is fully registered with the GMC and can be found on the Plastic Surgery Specialist Register. His NHS specialist interests include head and neck surgery, skin cancer surgery, breast reconstruction surgery, facial reanimation surgery as well as all aspects of elective and emergency microsurgery.

He is extensively published in peer-reviewed literature, most recently in the prestigious Aesthetic Surgery Journal. He is regularly invited to give presentations at national and international plastic surgery meetings in Europe and North America. He also provides popular national webinars, most recently for the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the Plastic Surgery Trainees Association during the COVID-19 pandemic.
