He has over 25 years of experience in the specialty, qualifying in 1994 then trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the West Midlands obtaining the membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists in 2000. Has a particular interest in complex benign gynaecological surgery including laparoscopic (key hole surgery), menstrual problems (heavy periods) fibroids and gynaecological ultrasound. He is involved in post graduate training and a supervisor of specialist training in hysteroscopic surgery and gynae ultrasound. He has published a number of papers and involved in research in relation to early pregnancy problems.
He has a particular interest in minimal access (Key Hole) surgery and ambulatory one-stop gynaecology dealing with all aspects of menstrual dysfunction (heavy periods), pelvic pain, fibroids and endometriosis. In addition to this he is an experienced vaginal surgeon dealing with the management of pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence. He strongly believes in a holistic approach to managing women’s problems involving them in every step of treatment.
Mr Izzat has a particular interest in innovative surgical techniques and keeps up-to date with all the latest treatments available. His non clinical interests are in digital transformation, clinical informatics and artificial intelligence in medicine and is one of the digital leads in the Trust.
He is married to a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, has two children and a keen cyclist and enjoys hiking and loves cinema and completing DIY projects.
