Personal Profile

Mr Baldwin is a consultant plastic surgeon at the Hand Centre at the Northern General Hospital and the Children’s Hospital in Sheffield. He undertakes private consultations at the Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield.

After completing his medical training at Imperial College, London, Mr Baldwin undertook his specialist plastic surgery training in Leeds, Manchester and London. During his training, he completed a research degree in tissue engineering for burn injured patients as an MRC fellow, publishing widely in the literature and presenting the work internationally.

After completing his plastic surgery training, Mr Baldwin gained further advanced training in all aspects of hand surgery culminating in a further qualification in specialist hand surgery.

As a consultant, Mr Baldwin enjoys looking after all aspects of hand problems, both in adults and children. As research lead at the Hand Centre, he continues to develop new treatments and improve patient care. He is involved in teaching new doctors, surgeons-in-training and specialist hand surgeons. He sits on the national examination committee for the British Society of Surgery of Hand.

Mr Baldwin continues to use his skills overseas in the developing world where there is less developed healthcare, recently returning from Sierra Leone with a team of reconstructive surgeons.

Clinical Interests 

All aspects of adult hand surgery including traumatic injuries and common problems, for example, arthritis, Dupuytrens disease, carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger digits.

Brachial plexus and peripheral nerve injuries including nerve tumours and compression neuropathies.

Children’s hand surgery including congenital problems and injury.
