Miss Anne Dancey (GMC No: 4615482) graduated from Glasgow University in 1999 with distinction and honours in medicine and surgery. After completing her general surgical training at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, she was one of the youngest surgeons in the United Kingdom to be appointed as a Plastic Surgery Registrar and pass the specialist exam in Plastic Surgery. She was also awarded a master’s degree in medical science with Honours.

Miss Dancey has been trained in all areas of aesthetic plastic surgery by some of the best cosmetic surgeons in the UK. Whilst she performs the full repertoire of plastic procedures, her special interest lies in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery and lymphoedema surgery. She had the privilege of completing a 6-month fellowship at the world-renowned breast reconstruction unit in Gent, Belgium, focusing primarily on the latest techniques in micro-vascular free-flap and aesthetic breast surgery.

Miss Dancey has been a full time NHS consultant at the University Hospital of Birmingham for 6 years and is a Specialty Advisor for Plastic Surgery for the Royal College of Surgeons and council member of the British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (BAPRAS) overseeing the West Midlands. She is well published, being the author of over 30 papers and several prestigious book chapters, and regularly peer reviews articles for the major international plastic surgery journals. She has spoken at international meetings and has been a tutor for the Oncoplastic Masters degree at University of East Anglia.

Miss Dancey represented BAPRAS and the BSI in the international committee developing European standards for cosmetic non-surgical procedures. Miss Dancey was also nominated as the UK ICOPLAST delegate (International Confederation of Plastic Surgery Societies). ICOPLAST represents over 25,000 aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgeons and aims to improve patient outcomes worldwide and to educate, communicate and advance the specialty of Plastic Surgery globally.

In 2016, Miss Dancey was the first consultant to be awarded a Master of Science in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Practice (MCh PASP) from the Anglia Ruskin University. This enabled her to specialise in cosmetic plastic surgery and demonstrate an advanced level of practice. Her broad training in plastic and reconstructive surgery has provided a foundation on which to further develop specialist skills in breast, and rehabilitative lymphoedema and lipoedema surgery.

Being one of the few female consultants in the country, Anne Dancey has the unique advantage of approaching surgery from a female perspective. She is thoroughly committed to delivering the optimum result for every one of her patients. She is passionate about the future of plastic surgery and is well versed in modern advancements and techniques in one of the most dynamic and challenging areas of medicine.

Miss Dancey is a reviewer for international journals, including JPRAS and Annals of Plastic Surgery. In addition to BAPRAS and The British Association of Aesthetic Surgeons (BAAPS), Miss Dancey is also a member of The British Lymphology Society (BLS Membership No: B02198) and international candidate member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Outside of work, Anne is also a mother and spends most of her free time with her family.
