Personal Profile

Mr Taylor graduated from the Medical School of the University of Newcastle in 1993. He undertook O&G training in the London Deanery gaining specialist experience in minimally invasive surgery.

After his appointment at Bournemouth, Mr Taylor set up the minimal access (keyhole surgery) program. He founded one stop clinics for heavy periods and was instrumental in the Jigsaw Appeal, which raised £1.5 million for the new Women’s Health Unit at Bournemouth Hospital.

Mr Taylor worked as a research fellow and lecturer at the Royal Free Hospital in London. Here he wrote a thesis on myomectomy and gained his doctorate. He has over 40 publications pertaining to obstetrics and gynaecology.

Locally he is the departmental lead for gynaecology, regionally he is a Training Programme Director for Health Education England and Nationally he is an examiner for the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG).

In the past he has led and taught for the RCOG in China, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, India, UAE & Qatar. He holds five Clinical Excellence Awards and won the David Stern Prize for service development.

Research

Mr Taylor later began work as a research fellow and lecturer at the famous Royal Free Hospital in London. During his time he worked on his doctorate, with a thesis on myomectomy with modified triple tourniquet. To date, he has over 40 publications and television appearances pertaining to obstetrics and gynaecology.

He holds three Clinical Excellence Awards and was awarded the David Stern Prize for service development in 2008. He is the managing director of Dalton Square Medical Ltd, a publisher of teaching materials for doctors, nurses and other health professionals.
