Personal Profile
Mr. Marudanayagam graduated in 1995 from JIPMER, a reputed medical college in India. Subsequently, he completed 3 years of General Surgical training and 3 years of Senior Registrar job in the same institute. Following his move to UK, he undertook General Surgical training and specialist training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery in the West Midlands deanery. He then completed a 6 months fellowship in advanced laparoscopic HPB surgery at Kings College Hospital, London and 12 months ‘Royal College of Surgeons’ accredited fellowship in multi-organ retrieval and Liver transplantation in Royal Free Hospital, London. He also visited Seoul National University to gain further experience in advanced laparoscopic HPB Surgery. He was then appointed as a Consultant HPB Surgeon in Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in 2010.
Mr. Marudanayagam is active in research and is a Principal/ Co-investigator in a number of European and International trials. His predominant interest is advanced laparoscopic liver and pancreatic resections. He has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Mr. Marudanayagam is keen on training and is a Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) member to the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He also holds the post of an Educational Lead for the Minimally Invasive Liver and Pancreatic Association- UK (MILAP-UK).
