Personal Profile
A graduate of the University of Malta, Mr Camilleri-Brennan received his postgraduate surgical training primarily in Dundee and Aberdeen. He was awarded a Travelling Fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow that enabled him to pursue further studies in colorectal surgery at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA. His research on rectal cancer led to a doctorate from the University of Dundee.
Mr Camilleri-Brennan performs all aspects of general and colorectal surgery, in particular gall bladder and hernia surgery, surgery for colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, laparoscopic surgery, and surgery for incontinence and pelvic floor disorders (including rectal prolapse and rectocoele) especially following childbirth.
He is a Principal Investigator in a number of research projects, has published articles in major surgical journals, co-authored chapters in postgraduate surgical textbooks, and has presented prize-winning papers at many national and international meetings. He is Associate Director of Surgical Examinations, Council member and former Regional Advisor and College Tutor for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
A recognised postgraduate surgical trainer, he is an elected member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is the recipient of the prestigious William Cullen Prize from the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh for his and his team’s colorectal expertise.
