Personal Profile
Dr Jerome Ment is a consultant interventional cardiologist dealing predominantly with coronary artery disease and its consequences including myocardial infarction and heart failure. He qualified in Cape Town, South Africa and completed all postgraduate and specialist training in the Midlands and has worked in Birmingham and Solihull since.
He was appointed in 2004 as a consultant cardiologist to Heart of England Foundation Trust and has gained extensive experience particularly in the assessment of possible coronary artery disease and heart failure. In addition, he sees a lot of general cardiology problems including the management of palpitations/heart arrhythmias, high blood pressure as well as assessment of the cardiac patient undergoing non cardiac surgery. He has since then been actively involved in supporting the interventional cardiology service providing emergency care for heart attack patients as well as wider support for our population with angina and other cardiac conditions.
He looks after all areas of cardiology but has a particular interest in angina and coronary disease and undertakes stenting procedures. He has over the last few years, also been regularly involved in GP education through dedicated lectures and has given talks to patient groups including Solihull Heart Support group. He is also a member of the hospital thrombosis committee and the West Midlands CVD board and has previously sat on the Hospital formulary committee.
